Kerri Friesen has had a long career with Children and Family Services and has made an impact on many children and families over the years. She has a huge heart and approaches social work with a desire to make the lives of others better.
Described as humble, approachable and non-judgmental, Kerri absolutely gives her all to the children and families she works with. She is invested in the children’s outcomes and works tirelessly to meet their needs and ensure they are thriving. She displays exceptional levels of compassion and empathy and is a strong advocate for children in care.
Referring to herself as a “fighter for the underdog” and a natural nurturer, she is always mindful of treating people the way they want to be treated – with kindness. She remembers that everyone has a story, and families just want to be included in the process, to understand what’s happening.
An excellent communicator, she is right there to deal with any issues or concerns that might arise. She works collaboratively with caregivers, is forthcoming, honest, showing empathy for the caregiver experience. Also advocating for the caregivers, their opinions matter to her. Families note that she is one of the best intervention practitioners they have worked with.
Kerri is truly a special individual who reflects positively on the profession.
